The Secrets of Garfield Gulch by Marshall McClintock Originally presented January 22, 2009 for the North Slope Historic District
This is a 2009 view of the South side of N. K between N. 5th and N. 6th, approximately where the gulch crossed. Buildings from right to left: -524 N. K built in 1894 as Drew & Bros. Grocery., now Corner Bar. The original entrance was at what is now the alley. It’s lower story sits in the gulch, and a wooded deck connects the building with N. K. The street’s retaining wall is visible below the deck. -518 built in 1948 -516 built in 1933 -512 built in 1946 (barely visible behind bushes) -508 built in 1924 (originally the Elite Beauty Parlor) -1101 N. 5th in 1905 (rear roof visible)
