This is the 1896 Sanderson Fire Insurance Map.
--Shows what’s now Garfield Park and Tacoma Lawn Tennis Club
--At this time the Fair Grounds
--Neither N. 7th or N. 8th are ever built through
--Note the Cyclorama (Vellodrome) indicating the importance of cycling
--Tacoma Ave. crosses on a high trestle bridge over the gulch

--Lawn Tennis Club moves here in 1901 from Division and N. G

--Garfield Park was named in 1904 for President Garfield at the same time that Lincoln and McKinley 

  Parks were named.
