The Secrets of Garfield Gulch by Marshall McClintock Originally presented January 22, 2009 for the North Slope Historic District
•This is the Western Washington Exposition Hall, built in 1891, with design by Proctor & Dennis. --Burned in 1898 --4.5 story building (2 basements) --Built in Garfield Gulch south of N. Tacoma Ave. with its entrance from the bridge across the gulch --This picture shows corner of N. Tacoma Ave. and N. 8th --The bridge and streetcar across the gulch at this point built about 1891 as well. --In 1888, the streetcar line along N. Tacoma went south along N. 6th to N. G street and then to McCarver and down to Old Town.
